"Who Has Stolen The Air?" click on album cover to buy from Genepool http://www.myspace.com/zgafigs ZGA is a unique phenomenon in Russian post-rock music. There’s never been a band that would for so long, so consistently and with such dogged perseverance and dedication pursue the non-compromised approach to music. ZGA pretty much equals Nick Sudnick. Throughout countless personnel changes Nick has always been there - the mind, the heart, the soul, the creator and inventor of this unparalleled music. On first listen ZGA’s music is by no means sounded obsolete but obscure it very well is: asymmetrical rhythms, hardly any melody, distorted guitar paired with Nick’s homemade instruments. The result is an apotheosis of rhythmic industrial sound. “ZGA” is a very obscure, obsolete, and peculiar Russian word. It means something really miniscule and in the contemporary language it survived only as a part of an expression "ni zgi ne vidno" - “pitch dark”. FIGS is an acronym that stands for the names of four musicians: apart from bandleaders Sudnick and Fedorova there are two drummers: Alexei Ivanov and Marcus Godwyn (a Brit who has lived in St. Petersburg for many years now) "Beating the Retreat" click on album cover to buy from Genepool
Test Dept "The Unacceptable Face of Freedom" click on album cover to buy from Genepool Test Dept were an industrial music band formed in New Cross, London, by unemployed musicians (including Alastair Adams, Paul Jamrozy, Angus Farquhar, Graham Cunnington, Tony Cudlip, Toby Burdon and Paul Hines) from Glasgow, Scotland, where the band later re-located. Formed in 1981, they are hailed by many musicians as one of the most influential early industrial music acts. Their approach was marked out by a strong commitment to radical politics. Their discography spans a wide variety of influences and styles, including a collaboration with the South Wales Striking Miners Choir in support of the Miners' Strike of 1984. They were particularly notable for complex and powerful percussion, as well as high-energy live performances. Like the German band Einstürzende Neubauten, with whom they are often compared, Test Dept used unconventional instruments such as scrap metal and industrial machinery as sound sources; however, Test Dept's use of these objects was far more rhythmic than was Neubauten's, and was often accompanied by film and slide shows. Continuing the re-issue of their extensive back catalogue Some Bizarre present here 2 classic albums from the band’s 80’s incarnation. Both re-issued in Dig packs like the other releases on the label such as FOETUS and NEUBAUTEN. Essential for any collector of early industrial!!! Gary Lucas Vs The Dark Poets
OUT NOW! click on album cover to buy from Genepool www.garylucasvsthedarkpoets.com Gary Lucas Vs The Dark Poets "Beyond the pale" is is out now on SOME BIZZARE RECORDS
Gary Lucas vs The Dark Poets, Beyond the Pale (Some Bizzare) (Rated 8/ 10 ) His work with Jeff Buckley and Captain Beefheart probably makes Gary Lucas the worlds most popular avant-rock guitarist, though his solo work can lack focus. Here, his solo pieces mingle with tracks recorded with electronic composer James R Hunter, aka The Dark Poets, whose samplescapes, synth beds and vocal samples about things like military mind-control techniques recall the dark portents of Cabaret Voltaire. Highlights include a resonant cover of part of Popol Vuhs Aguirre, Wrath of God soundtrack; an exhilarating "Judgement at Midnight" incorporating swirling National steel guitar phrases over a synth drone bed pockmarked with found-sound fragments; "Breath of Bones", a delicate tangle of guitar tendrils; and "Teds Theme", a lovely sequenced samba-shuffle burnished with glinting guitar. Solo showcases include the glistening Frippertronic-style guitar tones of "Rosemarys Baby" and the almost electric-flamenco flurries of "Rise Up To Be". Pick of the album:The Judgement at Midnight, Teds Theme, Aguirre and Rosemarys Baby. Original article ....CLICK HERE
March Terrorizer Magazine Reviewed By Sam Rackman for the Darkside Round up - The Latest in Gothic, Industrial and EBM releases "When it comes to eclectic; post-punk Gary Lucas Vs The Dark Poets knows where its at. Beyond The Pale, Released through Some Bizarre, is a collaboration between the Grammy nominated/one time Captain Beefheart guitarist and the British electronica outfit. The result flits between sounding like Tubeway Army remixed for the 21st century and Nick Cave playing acid-infused bluegrass."
Review from Uncut Magazine GARY LUCAS VS DARK POETS BEYOND THE PALE "Ex-Beefheart/Jeff Buckley collaborator and Gods and Monsters stalwart Lucas has dabbled in soundtracks, and breakbeat outfit Dark Poets are best known for scoring Cradle of Fear, so there is common ground between their approaches, its a fearful rush of sound, with Lucas’ spidery guitar above the Poets’ neurotic electronica, and the Grid's remix of "The Judgement At Midnight" packs a punch!" PEDRO INF Azphonix click on album cover to buy from Genepool
Pedro INF is an alterego of Pedro Granja De Carvalho, a musician whose main style can be categorized as IDM, braindance, or experimental electronic music. He began recording at the end of the 1980s when he was a member of the industrial Portuguese band from 1989-1994 named Ode Filipica. PEDRO INF S/T click on album cover to buy from Genepool PEDRO INF is Pedro De Carvalho, Tired of the current output of the electronic and post industrial music scenes, whose innovation has regressed to pre conceived ideas about music production, PEDRO INF is taking lead from the pioneers such as Kandinsky , Miro ,Coil , Test Department, Richard D James (Aphex Twin) & mu-ziq. Designing and building his own effects, computers and programs PEDRO INF has created his own self styled "sonar paintings", he believes that ART does not need humans at all to exist, in his own words "there is no need for a receptor and the need of a receptor is only because we cannot escape the human condition of egocentrism" ticking the boxes that this enigmatic producer has the madness to pull of his unique brand of electronica "The first goal of Pedro INF is to see the painting and not remember how it was done

http://www.myspace.com/monkeyfarmfrankenstein The MFF vs Evil Dead
Monkey Farm Frankenstein is a pair of young horror-obsessed malcontents who write, perform, engineer, record, program, edit, produce, mix, and master their own unique style of industrial hip hop music. Gathering samples in the dark and rainy streets of Portland, Oregon, they construct their subhuman breakbeat monster from unearthed pieces of cult horror films and dead LPs, dusty stacks of videotapes and aging analog synthesizers. The MFF invoke the hip hop influences in early Skinny Puppy and Ministry records, combining the sampledelic breakbeat sound of The Prodigy and Chemical Brothers with the funky chaos of Meat Beat Manifesto and Public Enemy. Monkey Farm Frankenstein dominate their machines, not the other way around, infusing every track with meanace and humor. Like the best horror films, the MFF balances their dark and aggressive nature with a sense of black comedy that lightens the tone and brings an audience into the fun. Combined with the pop-song structure of their songwriting, the MFF is both edgy and accessible.
